http://www.pilatesology.com A controversial figure in the Pilates world, Sean Gallagher is a villain to some and a protector of the method to others after a trademark lawsuit over the Pilates name. We visited his studio in New York to learn about Sean's story and the largest collection of archival Pilates materials in the world which he owns. In Part 1 of our Interview series Sean tells how he got into Pilates and purchased the copyright to the Pilates name and other materials from Wee Tai Hom in 1991. Sean details what is in the archives including photos, negatives, apparatus, video, and more. He shows us the 'Iron Shoe,' an apparatus that Joe used in the studio, talks about how Romana's training program evolved and how it appears that the exercises depicted in Joe's archives did not change during his lifetime.
